About ECE Department
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of CMR Engineering College was started in the academic year 2010-11 with an annual intake of 120 students for the B. Tech (ECE) Programme. The intake was increased to 180 students in the academic year 2012-13 and subsequently increased to 240 students in the academic year 2013-14. In addition to the sanctioned intake of students, the Department admits 10% students under EWS Category in the first year and 10% students under lateral entry category in the II year B.Tech (ECE) Programme. At present the ECE department intake at B.Tech is 120 students.
M.Tech Programme was started with 12 students’ intake in the specialization of VLSI System Design from the academic year 2014-15.
JNTUH recognized Research Center in the department of ECE was started in the year 2022 for admitting students in the PhD Programme.
The B.Tech (ECE) Program is duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Telangana and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUH), Hyderabad. Twelve batches had been graduated so far under B.Tech Programme.
The department have 39 highly qualified and experienced faculty members. The department faculty are members of Professional Bodies like ISTE, IEEE, IETE and The Institution of Engineers (India). The department has exclusive students’ chapters of ISTE, IE (I), IETE and IEEE professional bodies, in which the students of the department are provided with memberships. A technical association (ECMRON) of ECE has been formed by the senior students of the department for the benefits of students to impart additional knowledge in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering apart from the prescribed curriculum.
The Department has state of art laboratories as mandated by the CMREC Autonomous Syllabus approved by JNTUH for curriculum and research. The exclusive R&D and Project laboratory in the department paves path for the students to conduct their project work and acquire good knowledge & technical skills in the field of Electronics, Communication, Microwave Engineering, VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing and Micro Processors & Micro Controllers. The Department periodically organizes seminars, symposia, workshops and guest lectures for the benefit of both the students and the faculty.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)
PEO 1: Establish themselves as successful professionals in their career and higher education in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering and allied domains through rigorous quality education.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POS)
Engineering Graduates will be able to:
PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)
PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)
PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).
PO5: Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)
PO6: The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7).
PO7: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national & international laws. (WK9)
PO8: Individual and Collaborative Team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.

- Ability to apply concepts of Electronics & Communication Engineering to associated research areas of electronics, communication, signal processing, VLSI, Embedded systems, IoT and allied technologies

Dr. Suman Mishra, M.E, Ph.D, MISTE
Dr. Suman Mishra is presently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from The Institution of Engineers (India), his master’s degree in Applied Electronics from the University of Madras, and his Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Sathyabama University, Chennai. Additionally, he holds a certification in teaching methodologies from the Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE).
He possesses a commendable blend of academic and industrial experience, with over 25 years dedicated to teaching and research, complemented by 4 years of professional experience in industry. He is currently supervising a full-time research scholar pursuing a Ph.D. degree. His primary areas of research interest include Digital Image Processing, Embedded Systems, and Wireless Sensor Networks.
Dr. Mishra has guided twenty five M.Tech dissertations and forty-five B.Tech projects to successful completion. He has contributed significantly to the body of knowledge, with thirty-four research publications in reputed peer-reviewed national and international journals and conferences. He has also authored two textbooks titled Electronic Devices and Wireless Sensor Networks.
He is a life member of esteemed professional bodies such as The Institution of Engineers (India) (AMIE), the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He serves as a reviewer for two international journals and has been an active member of the technical committees of two international conferences. He has also served as an examiner for Ph.D. theses.
Dr. Mishra is deeply committed to fostering innovation among the student community, consistently guiding them in the development of impactful, socially beneficial projects that contribute to technological advancement and human welfare.
