About The Department
The Department of CSE-Data Science is established in the year 2020, B.Tech degree in CSE-Data Science specialization with an intake of 120. It has the well-defined infrastructural facilities required for imparting high-quality technical education and the department is well structured to meet the current needs of the industry. It has well-qualified and experienced faculty and skilled programmers to impart high-quality education. Conferences, Workshops, and Seminars are conducted in the department regularly to keep updated both faculty and students with the latest developments in various technologies. The students in the department are nurtured into competent software professionals, to face the real-time challenges of the Data Science and Information Technology sectors.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)
- To prepare graduates with a varied range of expertise in different aspects of data science such as data collection, processing, modeling and visualization of large data sets
- To acquire good knowledge of both theory and application of applied statistics, mathematics and computer science based existing data science models to analyze huge data sets originating from different application areas
- To create models using the knowledge acquired from the program to solve future challenges and real-world problems requiring large scale data analysis.
- To make better trained professionals to cater the growing demand for data scientists, data analysts, data architects and data engineers in industry.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POS)
Engineering Graduates will be able to satisfy these NBA graduate attributes:
- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems
- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences
- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
- Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions
- Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations
- The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES(PSO’S)
- Apply knowledge of Data Science in real-time software project development using open-source programming environment or commercial environment to deliver quality software product for the organizations success
- Analyze, design and develop computer-based systems in the areas related to machine learning, algorithms, big data and data analytics, and cloud computing of varying complexity.
- Acquaint with the contemporary trends in industrial/research areas and thereby innovate novel solutions to existing problems
Dr. M. LAXMAIAH received B.Tech CSE from Sri Krishna Deveraya University, Anantapur, AP in 1997.M.Tech CSE from JNTU, Hyderabad in 2003. He has received his Ph.D, Doctorate Degree in the area of Data Mining in Computer Science and Engineering discipline from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUH), Kukatpally, Hyderabad, Telangana in 2016. His research interests include Data Mining, Data Science and Data Analytics, Machine Learning. He is currently working as a Professor and Head of Department of Computer Science &Engineering-Data Science (CSE-DS) and Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS) in CMR Engineering College, Kandlakoya (V), Medchal (M&D), Hyderabad, Telangana,India-501401.He has 25 years of experience in teaching and 10 years of experience in the field of Research.
He has published many research papers in the peer-refereed National and International Journals, and Conferences. He has received funding from AICTE MODROB17.5 lakhs, PMKVY 2.3 lakhs and DST 13.8 lakhs. Currently, he is guiding 4 research scholars.2 Ph.D scholars completed Ph.D under his supervision. He is an IBM DB2 and Data Science & Big Data Analytics Certified Professional. He is an instrumental in conducting students Hackathons such as Rurathon Jalathon, Coronathon,Ideathon, Smart India- Internal Hackathon, Swecha Hackathon.
He has received Drona Award from IBM in receipt of 1st Position in “The Great Mind Challenge” competition in the Year 2011 and Outstanding Researcher in Computer Science Engineering Award from Global Outreach Organization in 2019 and Best researcher award in Computer Science and Engineering from Prahas Vidya Parishad Trust in 2020. He has also received Best Teacher Award from many educational institutions like CMREC, MLRIT, TEC,etc. He has published 4 patents. He has received National Merit Scholarship, Telugu Vignana Merit Scholarship in SSC.
He has worked as a Secretary for Indo-Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) of AP Chapter from 2006 to 2014.He has held different academic positions like Principal(I/C) , BoS Member, Chief Superintendent of Examinations,IIIC Head, Dean SAC, Head-Dell EMC Centre of Excellence, Head of CSE Department in couple of engineering colleges.
