Journey of IIC Established at the Institute:
IIC became operational at CMR Engineering College during the academic year 2019-20 soon after getting guidelines from the MHRD to implement IIC in higher education institutes. Since the beginning, the college has had a long heritage of innovation and entrepreneurship, which began with the operations of a fully functional Innovation Centre and Entrepreneurship Development Cell.
Students at CMR Engineering College received training in entrepreneurship development, thanks to a new partnership with the Atal Incubation Centre of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (AIC-SKU) in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project has already led to a number of workshops and success story gatherings. The AIC-SKU has chosen two groups of CMREC students to receive further help and support for their creative business concepts.
Since its beginning in the 2019-20 academic years, the CMREC IIC has been bolstered by the nomination of faculty members, industry leaders, and students to the IIC council.
Since its inception, CMREC IIC has made its imprint on the institution by holding events in accordance with the IIC calendar and also by initiating several events on its own initiative. The academic year 2020-21 saw the inclusion of faculty representatives from every department on campus. In response to student demand, numerous departments of the institution organized their own I&E events. Students were attracted to CMREC IIC in droves by many exciting opportunities presented by the center’s emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship.
The institution’s departments were urged to join the staff, students, and alumni in engaging them in innovative and entrepreneurial endeavors. Departments around campus have organized numerous online resources for their students, including workshops, webinars, and hackathons. In addition, CMREC IIC hosts events such as speeches by motivational speakers, student exhibitions, and competitions to help students develop their business acumen.
The IIC of CMR Engineering College has representation of faculty and students from all the engineering departments such as, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), Computer Science & Engineering (Data Science), Information Technology and Freshman Engineering. The IIC at CMR Engineering College has played a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students and faculty alike. The fact that the Council has over 100 students enrolled attests to its popularity. We also have 21 faculty innovation ambassadors who have completed the foundational programme, 16 who have completed the advanced training and 3 faculty members have completed their reskilling level of training. Sub-teams at CMREC IIC include those responsible for posting reports, promoting the center, assisting students, and more.
