The session was then handed over to Mr. G.Murali who then proceeded to start the session with a brief introduction to Data Warehousing, Data Mining and Big Data. Starting with how he got into this field, he then continued on the topic of what a data warehouse actually is, following which he introduced the students to a new industry concept called “Golden Data” and proceeded to explain how data warehouses are used to share information among the various departments and branches of a company from around the globe. He then continued with an explanation to the differences and different uses between OLTP and OLAP. He then enlightened the students with an introduction to the various Informatics tools that are available and how effectively they can be used to process the data, an example of which was “tableau” which is used for Data Visualization. He then proceeded to show the students a rough pictorial representation of the steps that are involved from the start to the end in data mining and data warehousing, explaining the different tools that can be used for each process along the way.
The session then continued with an introduction to ODS (Operational Data Stores) which were being used by small scale or medium scale companies/industries, following which he gave the students a detailed informative look into the No-SQL database technologies and also an introduction to Hadoop with the different organizations who have created or use a form of Hadoop. The session concluded with Mr. Murali talking about the various career opportunities that are available in the field of Data Warehousing, Data Mining and Big Data.
