LAB IMPROVEMENT FOR FUTURE TRENDS(LIFT)

Laboratory has been an extremely important place of learning in engineering education. To address this need CMREC has introduce Laboratory Improvement for Future Trends (LIFT) programme to make lab practical more effective. Laboratory improvements are achieved by following the best practices in conduction of lab experiments, design of lab manuals, incorporation of LEAD experiments, improved assessment techniques, incorporation of industrial visits and industrial training programs for students related to the concerned lab, encouraging student product development, submissions of research proposal etc.
Goals:
The main aim of the LIFT programme is to improve existing laboratory learning experience to reach the excellence in laboratory practice. The LIFT programme provides practical hands-on experience to students to improve the knowledge levels of the student in various fields.
Method:
• Create awareness of LIFT and other lab related activities among the staff and lab technicians
• LIFT presentations by faculty are arranged to examine the lab planner
• Hardware and Software requirements and maintenance of labs are taken care for smooth conduction of labs.
• Identify and plan Industrial Visits/ Industrial training programs in coordination with concerned lab staff and Heads of the departments.
• A report on Shadow Engineering describing arrangements of industrial and practical learning,
• Submission of Industrial Visit reports, Technical Survey reports and Market Survey of a product for development in laboratories
• Verification of all the laboratories in every department by the LIFT Team along with the Principal and the concerned HODs, to check whether the activities are going according to LIFT guidelines, to check the Record Keeping, Lab Manuals and Viva sessions etc
• Check for LEAD Experiments and its follow up
• Submission of proposals related to R&D, Project and Consultancy from lab staff to the Principal for further approvals
Outcomes:
• LIFT improve students interest levels in laboratory work, and help in improving competence levels of students.
• Improve Industry Institute interaction
• The LEAD experiments enhance the quality of experiments and practical to the industry standards
• Scope for improving R & D and Product development
