English Club-CREST
(CMREC"s Realm of English for Smart Technocrats)
We have CREST as the literary club of our college. It is formed with the objective to enrich and develop the soft skills and literary skills in writing, reading & thinking amongst the students through various literary activities. It aims at providing a platform to the students where they can unleash their creativity keeping aside those hefty books once a while and unwinding through beneficial and fun filled activities. It brings forward from amongst the students amateur writers, keen debaters and all those who find pleasure and bliss in words and thereby helps to initiate a multidimensional thinking process.
CREST is introduced by CMREC gives ample importance to the extra-curricular activities for nurturing the personality of the students. The Literary Club is one of the many clubs initiated by the college as a part of this agenda.
Objectives
- To develop different perspectives of appreciation for literature in the students
- To encourage the students’ skills for creative writing and expression
- To introduce them to the literatures of various languages
- To enhance their thought and speech through group discussions and interactive sessions
CREST gives its members a suitable platform to hone their literary talents with productive suggestions, healthy criticism and heartfelt appreciation. It introduced them to the wider horizons of literature in English language. The Club gave them a sense of belonging in a group where their individuality and talents were respected and instilled in them a sense of confidence to speak out. Thus, Literary Club triggered conducive thoughts in its members, encouraged them to give it expression and inspired them to the course of progressive action. The Club Magazine SAHITYA was the epitome of the inspiration of the students gained for their creative talent from the Club.

- Abhivyakti: Extempore session
- 'Brain Of CMREC': A quiz to test the literary technical, geographical, social and current affairs knowledge of the contestants
- Bone of contention: An argument in which the contestants had to present themselves for or against the current yet controversial topics
- Break Your Nerves: Creating funny full form of the words given and spotting the well known words and phrases portrayed in the pictures
- Kaleidoscope: Cooking up an interesting story based on the hints provided
- The Ultimate Survivor: JAM session
- Samiksha : A group discussion
- Word search games: word puzzles
- Creative writing: Putting oneself into others shoes and narrating accordingly
